Sunday, May 27th - The Mystery of the Trinity

It's week 4 of our series on the Holy Spirit and this week we're digging into the mystery of the trinity. As Christians we believe in one God, but we also believe some pretty spectacular things about our ONE God - specifically that he is three-in-one. We believe that God exists as our creator and father, but also as the Son who became flesh, and finally as the Spirit that lives within us and guides us. They exist as one, yet they are distinct identities of God.

Scripture this week: John 14:16-17

" And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you”

As children of God we are forever filled by the Holy Spirit. The very same spirit that created the heavens and the earth. The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, and the same spirit that filled the apostles with the power to speak all languages and preach the good news across the world. We are filled with that same powerful spirit even today. The Holy Spirit still works in and through believers to accomplish His will. His power leads us, convicts us, teaches us, and equips us to do His work and spread the gospel. The Holy Spirit's powerful indwelling is an amazing gift we should never take lightly.

Next Steps for Parents & Grandparents: Watch this brief video about the Holy Spirit. The truth is that the power that created the universe, the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, lives in you. God has given his spirit to you so that you would never be alone, and so you could glorify him. Consider how having this power inside you changes you as a parent, as a spouse, as a friend and co-worker. Pray that God would make his spirit known to you this week.
