Sunday, July 29th - Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

In our final week of July we head to a principle found in 1 Kings 18. Elijah had confidence that God could do the impossible. He believed that god would send fire from heaven to prove that He was the all-powerful God of the universe.

This simple bottom line: God can do the impossible is packed with some amazing truth. God has the power to do anything! When we believe that, it changes everything. We hope kids discover how they can live differently knowing this truth about God.

Scripture this week: 1 Kings 18

“Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”

  • Life Application: Confidence - Living life you believe what God says is true.
  • Bottom Line: God can do the impossible
  • Basic Truth: I can trust God no matter what.
  • Memory Verse: "I will remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living" - Psalm 27:13

Next Steps for Parents & Grandparents: At bedtime tonight have this conversation with your kids. Is there something in your life that seems impossible? Facing something big like that can make you feel helpless. But here's the awesome thing to remember: God can do anything! You can live with confidence knowing that God can take away that obstacle in front of you or maybe carry you right through it. Pray that God will help you see how big He is so that you can live with confidence in Him.
